Wow, we packed a lot into our first month of school as 2nd Graders! We have been diligently learning our classroom rules and routines and enjoying being back in school with our friends. In Social studies we talked a lot about rules, expectations and reviewed emergency drills. We used the story “ Club Rules” to answer “wh-” questions about school rules. In literacy we have been reviewing our letters and sight words and are looking forward to starting blends. We have a lot of fun dancing to LetterLand and matching games!  We read a story from our curriculum titled “My Cool School” and worked in small groups to identify characters in the book and the roles they play in schools.  In math, we worked on answering questions pertaining to the story “ At the Zoo” and used various learning manipulatives to gain hands-on experiences to further enhance our recall of the story and counting skills. We started our specials this month and had a blast learning all about healthy food choices with the Mad Scientist. We also started our Social Skills special and we adore working with Ms. Evans to expand skills with our friends! We are enjoying the centers in our classroom, especially the pretend play area with our new kitchen toys. We are already trying new things and getting so very excited about learning. We are off to a great start and can’t wait to see how much we continue to learn this year!
