February
February was a shorter month but we packed a lot of learning into it! In Literacy we read the books “ The Peacemaker” and “ A Man Named Dr. King.” These stories tied into our social studies standards and Black History Month. The students practiced identifying key points in stories, comparing familiar texts, and identifying a text as telling a story. We enjoyed talking about Dr. King and his “ I have a Dream” speech. We continued on with our lessons in Letterland, sight words and using our AAC devices together. In Math we worked on number identification, composing and decomposing using a fun story about Frogs eating Flies and Boom Cards! We enjoyed a sweet valentines day and dressed up for the 100th day of school as 100 year old people. We had a few surprise snow days and ended the month with a Field Trip to Flour Power where the students had such a fun time cooking Pizza and Fruit Salad!! We are looking forward to the Lucky Month of March and warmer weather!
