We have had so much fun this spring from planting flowers, engaging in our play themes of camping and the beach, petting Boogey the dog in pet therapy and getting ready for our end of the year celebrations. In Literacy we dove into the stories of Animal habitat at the Zoo and In the Woods. We enjoyed answering questions about animals in the stories and sharing what our favorite animals were! In Social Studies and Science we stayed with our themes and identified physical characteristics ( head, nose, tail, eyes, mouth, legs, paws, beak, feathers, fur) in a variety of animals. We looked at the lifecycles of chickens, Butterflies and Frogs. We thought the tadpoles were so cute! We also studied the ecosystem and how these types of animals survive in them. In math we had so much fun learing all about digital clock time. We identified the hour that matches our activites on a digital clock! We have loved the fresh spring weather and are so excited to end the year with our family and friends i...

February

February was a shorter month but we packed a lot of learning into it! In Literacy we read the books “ The Peacemaker” and “ A Man Named Dr. King.” These stories tied into our social studies standards and Black History Month. The students practiced identifying key points in stories, comparing familiar texts, and identifying a text as telling a story. We enjoyed talking about Dr. King and his “ I have a Dream” speech. We continued on with our lessons in Letterland, sight words and using our AAC devices together. In Math we worked on number identification, composing and decomposing using a fun story about Frogs eating Flies and Boom Cards! We enjoyed a sweet valentines day and dressed up for the 100th day of school as 100 year old people. We had a few surprise snow days and ended the month with a Field Trip to Flour Power where the students had such a fun time cooking Pizza and Fruit Salad!! We are looking forward to the Lucky Month of March and warmer weather!

January

January was a bright start to the new year in LTA 2! In Literacy we read stories that tied to our theme of candy and lollipops and helped introduce us to our five senses. The stories we read this month were “Jack Can” and “Liam makes Lollipops.” The students loved sharing the candy they liked in conversations and choosing between pictures of cupcakes, lollipops and ice cream. We are continuing letter recognition and utilizing our AAC devices in class. We tied our theme into Science to see it, feel it and describe it using our senses. We all agree that ice cream and lollipops are yummy! The students had a blast playing with pretend ice cream in pretend play centers! In Math we focused on measurements and data by reading the stories “Inch by Inch” and “The Best Bug Parade.” Students loved songs and hand motions to show “big, bigger and biggest, Long, longer and longest and small, smaller smallest “ to help them gain the concepts! In writing we talked about winter and hot/cold. Which was ...

December

December flew by and was filled with fun and learning in LTA 2! In Literacy we read stories about Kindness in the Community and how it is important to be kind and give back to others during the holiday season. In Math we focused on measurements and finished up our shapes units. In Social studies we discussed various different ways people celebrate holidays around the world! We packed a lot of academic learning into this month, but we also had time for some fun like decorating cookies with our families, a visit from Santa and Pajama Day! We are wishing everyone a safe and Happy Holiday Season over break and can’t wait to see everyone in 2025!
